Piano Removalist Blasts Off With Huge Conversion Rates

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Piano Removalists - Network Piano Carriers - entered the online removals world late last year with their first website. To their great credit, this highly professional piano removals company systematically measures the outcome of everything - especially their marketing activity.

Google rankings can be hard to achieve if you’ve never had a website before. Many companies can expect to wait over six months before seeing their site show up in important searches. Yet the Network Piano Carriers website hit the ground running with strong Google rankings and the highest lead generation conversion rate that we’ve seen yet.

In addition to strong Google rankings, Network Piano Carriers are using other marketing to drive traffic to their website including:

  • Yellow Pages® Directory
  • Yellow Pages® Online
  • Good Truck Signage
  • Strong Referral Marketing

In only three months, Network Pianos achieved a staggering 31.5% lead generation conversion rate.

Visit to Lead Conversion Rate = 31.5%

Bear in mind that Network Piano Carriers only service Brisbane and Melbourne, but Google rankings bring website traffic from everywhere. With that in mind, 30% of people visiting the site came from Markets that Network Piano Carriers do not service. The adjusted lead conversion rate is over 40%.

So what makes a lead generation website work so well? Stay tuned… We will be examining what makes a high performance lead generation website in our next post.

Don’t Get Lost in Translation

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

We’ve been working with the translators at Meaningful Exchange, helping with their email marketing for a little over a year now. We recently launched a new website targeting companies that are needing translation of their company documents and marketing material.

What we’ve learned is that translation is not as simple as it seems. Whilst Moore’s law has made machine translation a welcome reality, it should never be relied upon for communicating an important message.

Machines translators run in to trouble with things like:

  • Cultural differences
  • Idioms and Expressions
  • Intended meaning
  • Words with more than one meaning

That’s where a human translator can help. A professionally trained translator can do more than translate. A good translator will also localise the translation for the intended audience.

Meaningful Exchange offer the translation in the following languages:

If you’re looking to market your company from Australia into other countries or ethnic groups, we can highly recommend the translators at Meaningful Exchange.

Fort Knox expands Melbourne Self Storage

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Melbourne Self Storage - Fort Knox Self StorageI recently met with the team at Fort Knox in their Melbourne Self Storage facility. In the last 2 years with Fort Knox we’ve managed to have the website overtake the Yellow Pages® as the number 2 lead source for new customers. It’s now the number two lead source behind word of mouth referral (as it should be in any good business)!

All the extra storage customers have forced Fort Knox to expand their Melbourne Self Storage complex. The multilevel site in West Melbourne is nearly completed and will be introduced to the storage market soon.

Once again this year, we’ve managed to double the traffic to the website by improving Google search rankings like:

When Fort Knox originally took on our web marketing program, the big challenge was to get visits to their website. But that’s only part of the game. The real challenge was to improve all three KPIs that we measure for lead generation websites, namely:

  • Visits
  • Enquiries (Leads)
  • Sales

Working on these KPIs under our web marketing program we’ve been able to introduce things like:

  • More informative website content
  • Better use of call to action, phone numbers and contact forms
  • Better conversion strategies

The net result of this has been massive for Fort Knox Self Storage. We’re very proud to have played a part in helping them to expand.

Want an effective website? See your marketing consultant first.

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Hiring a marketing consultant can be a smart move. Particularly if you run a business that doesn’t have a marketing department (i.e. most small businesses).

Often B2B and professional services companies are created by people who are very good at what they do, but who are not necessarily good at articulating it. Sometimes they struggle to describe what it actually is that they do, let alone how and why it will benefit you.

That’s where a good marketing consultant can help. A marketing consultant can help you to:

  1. Clarify your uniqueness and competitive advantage (USP)
  2. Position your brand in the market (your perception)
  3. Use advertising, direct marketing, PR and events effectively
  4. Improve your selling tools and skills.

Without a clear, consistent and understandable message to offer, it is practically impossible to create an effective website.

How important is your website in the scheme of things? We’ve worked with Gene Stark of Stark Reality Marketing on a number of projects, so I asked him this question.

“Online Advertising is now the fastest growing media category that has overtaken Cinema and Outdoor Advertising. Your website has today become your most accountable and effective marketing tool, if it’s designed, built, promoted and maintained correctly.  If your marketing consultant doesn’t understand this then you are in serious trouble!”

Even for small businesses the opportunities for low cost, high return marketing will be on the web. And that’s why you should see a marketing consultant who understands websites intricately.

We know that to achieve high conversion rates and sales from your web marketing you need a team that includes seasoned marketers, web designers, web programmers, copywriters, editors, bloggers and search engine gurus. That’s why we created Bitemark.

And yes, we can get your website to number one in Google too!

Tablet PC’s - Has the next generation laptop slipped in the back door?

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

I’ve been a user of Tablet PC’s for about 5 years now. Yes, I had one of the really bad version 1.0 Tablets.

For those of you who don’t know what a Tablet PC is, essentially it’s a laptop that you can write on with a pen. Some of the bonuses that come with using a Tablet PC include:

  • Digital note taking
  • The ability to use a computer where it’s inappropriate to use a laptop (meetings, conferences, events)
  • Handwriting recognition
  • Digital sketching
  • Wow factor (Wow, what’s that?).

The interesting thing is that the Tablet PC kind of slipped in the back door for a number of reasons. We still experience people’s shock and awe on a daily basis when using our Tablet PC’s because they’ve never seen one before.

Because Tablet PC’s have gone largely unnoticed so far in Australia, about 2 years ago I was able to register tabletpc.com.au and put together a quick website to sell Tablet PC’s. This was akin to buying waterfront land in Coffs Harbour 20 years ago.

Well, the heat is really on now for Tablet PC’s. This month HP launched a new range of laptops headlined by the HP Compaq 2710p Tablet PC. Major brands such as Toshiba, Lenovo (formerly IBM), Asus, LG, Motion Computing, Panasonic and Fujitsu all have Tablet PC’s on the market in Australia.

With the launch of Next G and the phase out of Telstra’s old CDMA countrywide network, mobile broadband is really taking off (I’m actually using a Telstra Next G mobile broadband card to post this blog from Noosa!).  Mobile broadband makes a lot of sense with a Tablet PC.

Tablet PC’s will be the biggest change to mobile working since the mobile phone. There couldn’t be a better time to be involved with marketing Tablet PC’s. The question is, what will be the next big thing in the Internet land rush for me? It might be more obvious than you think…

Bamboo Floors - A sustainable alternative to Hard Wood

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Did you know that Bamboo can grow up to 4 ft in one day?

I didn’t until I met Ken and Lyn Acheson at Crikey Bamboo. They’ve been in the flooring business for over 30 years and they introduced us to the concept of Bamboo floors as an alternative to hardwood flooring.

What we didn’t know about Bamboo flooring was that:

  • It’s actually 8 times harder than “hardwood” flooring
  • It has an incredibly fast growing cycle and can be harvested in 4-6 years
  • It’s a very sustainable product because it requires fewer resources than hardwood flooring to produce.

If you’re in the market for a hardwood floor, then head over to see Ken and Lyn at Crikey Bamboo and check out the Bamboo flooring alternative first. You’ll be surprised at the quality of the finish and you’ll be able to rest easy knowing that you’ve done your bit for a sustainable future.

We’re always on the lookout to assist with websites that promote an environmental product or cause. If you have a project and you want to promote it on the Internet, please contact us to discuss it.

Mag Wheels - New and Used in Victoria

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

Canterbury Tyres are specialists in new and used mag wheels. At their 3 retail sites in the Melbourne suburbs they house the largest collection of second hand and rare wheels in Australia.

If you’re looking for a rare wheel, a part set or wheels for a classic car, then the chances are that Canterbury Tyres have them in stock. They also carry a full range of new mag wheels and tyres.

Because Canterbury Tyres carry such a unique range of products they will do lots of business on the Internet.

Whenever we can we like to shop with our clients, and I’m happy to say that my experience with Canterbury Tyres at the Bayswater store was exceptional. They fitted my car with a complete new set of tyres, then balanced and aligned the wheels in just under two hours. I drove the car to Sydney on the same day, and I have to say that I’ve never had wheels balanced so well. The ride was perfect and the service was great.

Self Storage Success Story

Friday, July 6th, 2007

The thing that has always impressed me most about Fort Knox Self Storage is how well they approach marketing. From our first meeting it was clear that they had a very accurate picture of how effective every part of their marketing was.

Because of this, Fort Knox Self Storage has been one of our greatest success stories. Yellow Pages® is a significant source of business for Fort Knox, and we’ve been able to help them to really capitalise on this by:

They are found in Google under Self Storage, Storage, Self Storage Melbourne and over 1000 other search terms every month.

Some of the conversion rates that we are currently experiencing are:

Visits to contact form = 4-5% Conversion rate (Does not include direct phone calls from the website)
Leads to Sales = 40% Sales conversion

Fort Knox Self Storage is a great Australian family-owned business and some of the best people that we’ve ever had the privilege of working with. I can wholeheartedly say that if you’re ever in the market for a self storage unit, then head straight down to your local Fort Knox Self Storage.

Silver, Amber and Costume Jewellery

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Tanjable Expressions is an online retailer of Silver, Amber and Costume Jewellery based in Melbourne.

To start from scratch with a new online shopping website is a significant challenge. Some of the issues that you’ll face include:

  1. Getting a new website indexed by Google and found by potential customers
  2. Creating and managing content
  3. Building trust with customers
  4. Ensuring that customers follow through with a purchase.

In the last few months we’ve successfully generated search traffic for Tanjable from terms like Amber Jewellery, Pashmina Scarves and Costume Jewellery

What we’re working on over the next few months is to increase traffic and improve the visits to carts conversion rate. We’ll keep you informed of our progress.
